Plagiarism Screening Policy
Virosa journals, published by Virosa Publishing, are firmly committed to maintaining the highest standards of research integrity, academic honesty, and ethical publishing. Plagiarism, fabrication, falsification of data, and other forms of misconduct undermine the credibility of scholarly communication and are strictly prohibited by the journal.
Plagiarism Screening
All manuscripts submitted to Virosapub undergo an initial plagiarism check using reliable and widely accepted similarity detection software (e.g., Turnitin, iThenticate, or equivalent tools). Manuscripts containing an unacceptable level of similarity, inappropriate paraphrasing, or uncredited use of previously published material will be rejected outright or returned to the authors for revision, depending on the severity of the issue.
The journal defines plagiarism as:
- Direct copying of text, figures, or data from another source without proper attribution.
- Paraphrasing substantial portions of another work without acknowledgment.
- Self-plagiarism, including the reuse of one’s own previously published content (text recycling) without citation or disclosure.
- Submitting the same manuscript to more than one journal simultaneously.
The acceptable similarity index is generally below 15%, with no significant overlap in any single source, although editorial judgment is applied on a case-by-case basis.
Data Integrity and Fabrication
Authors must present their results honestly, without fabrication, falsification, or manipulation of data, images, or figures. Any attempt to misrepresent data will result in rejection of the submission and possible blacklisting of the authors from future submissions. If data are found to be manipulated after publication, the journal reserves the right to issue a correction, retraction, or expression of concern, depending on the severity of the misconduct.
Author Responsibilities
Authors submitting to Virosapub affirm that:
- The manuscript represents their original work.
- All sources are properly cited and acknowledged.
- The work has not been submitted to or published in another journal simultaneously.
- Any use of previously published material (text, images, data) is accompanied by proper permissions and citations.
- Research involving human participants, animals, or sensitive data complies with international ethical standards (e.g., Declaration of Helsinki, ICMJE guidelines).
Reviewer and Editor Responsibilities
Reviewers and editors are also expected to uphold research integrity. If potential plagiarism, redundant publication, or unethical research practices are identified during peer review, they must be reported to the Editor-in-Chief for further investigation.
Response to Misconduct
Cases of suspected misconduct will be handled according to the guidelines set by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE). When plagiarism or unethical practices are confirmed, the following actions may be taken:
- Immediate rejection of the manuscript or withdrawal of the published article.
- Notification of the authors’ affiliated institution(s).
- Restriction of future submissions from the authors involved.
- Publication of a formal retraction or expression of concern if misconduct is discovered post-publication.
Ethical Commitment
By submitting a manuscript to Virosapub, authors agree to abide by the journal’s plagiarism and research integrity policy. The journal’s dedication to ethical publishing ensures that all published articles contribute meaningfully and transparently to the advancement of knowledge at the intersection of artificial intelligence, science, and healthcare.
